Acclaimed journalist and broadcaster Sam Delaney approach us to help create the branding for his new content creation agency Studio Sixty Billion. Our aim was to create a distinctive look that made them stand out and convey the character of the business to attract forward thinking and ambitious clients.
The media landscape is changing. Traditional advertising is being disrupted by the popularity of social media. With many new ‘content agencies’ popping up claiming to be experts despite being in business for 10 minutes, it becomes hard to stand out and win the admiration, trust and business of higher profile brands.
They could provide a powerful combination of experience, industry connections and flexibility of turnaround. The advertising pedigree and experience of the team involved at SSB gave them a significant advantage over both the larger, cost heavy and cumbersome advertising agencies and the younger style over substance outfits.
Now all we had to was develop a brand identity that would convey these qualities and help them stand out from the competition.
Planning & Research
We spent time researching the current media landscape in which SSB sits and working with Sam to gain insight into the business, his goals and where he wanted to take it in the next 3 years.
Develop the strategy
By combining our findings from the research and the goals of the organisation, we were able to outline a strategy that could align the needs of both parties.
We set about gathering inspiration and through brainstorming and sharing our progress with Sam, we were able to choose our preferred route.
Bring it to life
Next we started to test and refine the robustness of the brand idenity across a range dufferent medias, mediums and platforms.
Launch & support
Everything was brought together for a very successful launch and we have been on hand since to provide support, guidance and advice.
We went for a distinctive and unique style inspired by Sam’s love of Mid Century Americana and combined it with bold colour palettes and 80s gradients.
Here's how we did it.
House Typeface - Brandon Grotesque
Brandon Grotesque and has a huge range of weights allowing for a great range of flexibility when it comes to establishing a visual heirachy. A refined typeface with softened edges that balances being contemporary and feeling Mid-Century at the same time.
Our choice of hot pink and burnt orange helped convey the personality of Studio Sixty Billion and make sure that it stood out from it’s rivals. These primary colours were complemented by a soft cloud grey, a deep graphite and a tropical pink / sunburst gold gradient.
Sam Delaney's News Thing
As part of the project we were asked to create the identity and TV graphics for Sam's new show Sam Delaney's News Thing. We opted for bright neons and nostalgic American 80's typefaces to add a touch of showbiz glamour.
We are a results kind of agency. If you know just how valuable branding can be for your business and want outstanding results, we’d love to talk with you.
